Day 21: Equipped For Good Works

Word:

2 Timothy 3.16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Daily Devotional

God has good works for each of us to walk in. God’s Word serves to teach us, correct us and train us that we may be fully equipped to walk in all the good works God wants to lead us into.

Scriptures For Today:

As you read today's Scriptures, read slowly and attentively, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you meditate on His Word.

2 Timothy 3.16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Proverbs 2.1-8 My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding— indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.

Joshua 1.7-9 Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Prayer:

Last week we prayed a personal devotional prayer and a prayer for our church planting teams serving in the nations. This week, we continue with a personal devotional prayer and we are going to be praying for our churches serving in our nation.

Lord, thank You for the wisdom, reproof and instruction that You give me through Your Word, that I may be fully equipped for every good work You have set before me. Thank You for teaching me!

Today we are praying 1 Thessalonians 3.11-13 for our Seattle churches: “Lord, would you make our Seattle churches increase and abound in love for one another and for all so that they might be established in their hearts, blameless in holiness before You, at the coming of our Lord Jesus.”

Listen & Obey:

Spend two minutes in silent, listening prayer. Write down what you sense the Holy Spirit speaking to you. Here are some prompts to assist you:

  • Lord, what do You want to speak to me from these passages of Scripture as I start my day?

  • How do You want me to apply this truth today?

  • Who do I need to share this with today?
