Day 23: Our Father
Word:
Matthew 6.9b “Our Father in heaven,…”
Daily Devotional
As we enter Jesus’s school of prayer, His first lesson is not focused on what to pray, but on who we are talking to in prayer. When we pray, we are not talking to the Universe, or coming before a distant deity, but we are coming as sons and daughters to commune with our Heavenly Father.
Scriptures For Today:
As you read today's Scriptures, read slowly and attentively, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you meditate on His Word.
Matthew 6.9 “This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven…”
Luke 11.11-13 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
1 John 3.1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!

Prayer:
Here are two prayers for today. One is devotional and one is for those in our city that do not know Jesus. Praying for the lost is one of the ways we prepare for harvest.
Lord, Thank You that as I come to You in prayer, I am coming before my Heavenly Father! Thank You that You have lavished Your love on me! You know what I need even before I ask, and You know how to give good gifts to Your children!
Today we are praying 2 Corinthians 4.4-5 over those that don’t know Jesus in our city. Feel free to insert specific names of people in the prayer.
Lord, Your word says that Satan has blinded the minds of unbelievers and that this blindness keeps them from seeing the light of the gospel. We know that You specialize in healing blind eyes, minds and hearts! Would You send Your light to shine in the darkened hearts and minds of the lost in our city (insert names here) and bring healing so that they might see the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ!
Listen & Obey:
Spend two minutes in silent, listening prayer. Write down what you sense the Holy Spirit speaking to you. Here are some prompts to assist you:
Lord, what do You want to speak to me from these passages of Scripture as I start my day?
How do You want me to apply this truth today?
Who do I need to share this with today?
