Day 13: Offer Yourselves

Word:

Romans 6.13b but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.

Daily Devotional

So far we have seen that we worship in our daily times of devotion because He reigns, lest we forget all His many benefits, because He is worthy and because we love Him. We also worship because in worship, we offer ourselves to God as those who have been raised from the dead and are now instruments of righteousness for Him to work through!

Scriptures For Today:

As you read today's Scriptures, read slowly and attentively, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you meditate on His Word.

Romans 6.1-14 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.

Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.

In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

Worship:

Prayer:

Each day this week, in addition to personal prayers related to the devotional, we'll also pray for specific requests from our church planting teams worldwide.

Lord, I worship You today and offer myself up to You as one You raised from the dead! I present every part of my life to You as an instrument of righteousness in Your service and grace!

Our teams serving in the Southeast Asia among Muslims (You can learn more about this area of the world here) have requested that we pray:

O Lord, give us in Southeast Asia and Australia a heart like Philip in the Book of Acts. We ask You to give us boldness to preach Your word and to call down wonders among our people groups (Acts 8:4-13). We ask for readiness like Philip to be sent to the least likely places and meet those You’ve prepared, who hunger for Your word (Acts 8:26-40). Help us be ready to share in and out of season. O Lord, help us to be ready. In Jesus name, Amen.

Listen & Obey:

Spend two minutes in silent, listening prayer. Write down what you sense the Holy Spirit speaking to you. Here are some prompts to assist you:

  • Lord, what do You want to speak to me from these passages of Scripture as I start my day?

  • How do You want me to apply this truth today?

  • Who do I need to share this with today?
