Day 12: Thankful

Word:

Luke 17.17-19 Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”

Daily Devotional

In the Gospel of Luke, Luke recounts a testimony of ten lepers being healed by Jesus. Though all ten received healing, only one took the time to say thank you.

When we worship, we take intentional time to say thank you to the Lord for the many ways He has brought healing in our lives.

Scriptures For Today:

As you read today's Scriptures, read slowly and attentively, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you meditate on His Word.

Luke 17.11-19 Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”

When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed.

One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.

Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”

Prayer:

Each day this week, in addition to personal prayers related to the devotional, we'll also pray for specific requests from our church planting teams worldwide.

Lord, I thank you for your mercy, grace and healing in my life. I take time intentionally today to thank you and to carry my gratitude throughout my day. I love You!

Our teams serving in the Middle East (You can learn more about this area of the world here) have requested that we pray:

Lord, let Your word accomplish all that You desire for the Middle East. Cause the seeds of truth and love sown over many years to burst into life! Open the eyes of our teams here to perceive the new life You are bringing to these nations. (Isa. 55:10-13)

Listen & Obey:

Spend two minutes in silent, listening prayer. Write down what you sense the Holy Spirit speaking to you. Here are some prompts to assist you:

  • Lord, what do You want to speak to me from these passages of Scripture as I start my day?

  • How do You want me to apply this truth today?

  • Who do I need to share this with today?
