Day 11: Your Love Is Better Than Life
Word:
Psalm 63.3-4 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.
Daily Devotional
So far we have seen that we worship the Lord in our devotional times because:
He is a good, wise and loving King.
He is worthy.
Of all the many benefits He brings in our lives.
Another reason we worship the Lord in our devotional times is because He loves us and we love Him.
Scriptures For Today:
As you read today's Scriptures, read slowly and attentively, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you meditate on His Word.
Psalm 63.1-11 You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.
I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.
On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you; your right hand upholds me.
Those who want to kill me will be destroyed; they will go down to the depths of the earth. They will be given over to the sword and become food for jackals.
But the king will rejoice in God; all who swear by God will glory in him, while the mouths of liars will be silenced.
Worship:
Prayer:
Lord, Your love is better than life! I lift my praise to You this morning because I love You!
Our teams serving in Sub-Saharan Africa (You can learn more about this area of the world here) have requested that we pray:
God, we honor You as the Lord of the harvest in Africa. Thank You for the fertile soil of the African Church. Mature it into a good crop, Lord! Prepare an abundant harvest by lifting Jesus’ name above every spirit, ancestor, and competing claim to the lives of Africa’s many tribes. Break every chain of injustice, spiritual bondage, and hollow religion that places prosperity over discipleship, Lord. Amen!
Listen & Obey:
Spend two minutes in silent, listening prayer. Write down what you sense the Holy Spirit speaking to you. Here are some prompts to assist you:
Lord, what do You want to speak to me from these passages of Scripture as I start my day?
How do You want me to apply this truth today?
Who do I need to share this with today?
